As a parent, grandparent, caregiver I am sure you can relate to the fact that there is no time to exercise. (Or if there is time you just want to sit down and take a short break) If you are anything like me there is no way that you are going to make it out of your house and into a gym to get a workout in. In fact I started writing this post as I sit at a swim meet for the next 4 hours, after we were already at a practice for an hour this morning!
If your reading my posts your a mom or someone with kids. You will either need to go to a gym after your significant other can watch the kids, and after a long day who wants to do that?! Or you can find a gym with a sitter. This creates other challenges, for some reason everyone must bring their sick kids to the gym! You know you have a sick kid,(make sure you see my post on blueberry pediatrics when this happens) then you get sick and now you can’t go to the gym for several weeks until everyone is recovered.
Then the other problem in my case, I am a stay-at-home mom and by doing so we needed to cut costs. One of those costs, much to my displeasure, or was it pleasure, was our gym passes. I knew after gaining way too much weight with my second pregnancy I needed to do something. We live in a great area for walking (like half of the year) so that is always an option but I wanted more weight training as well.
After leaving a workplace with a gym and trainer I also needed someone to tell me what to do. After doing multiple workouts on YouTube and watching different trainers, I found Bodyfit by Amy and I have never looked back.
You can sign up for Amy’s newsletter and she will send you a workout calendar for the month with a different workout for each day. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
are usually some kind of weight training. However, what I love about Amy is no matter the workout, it averages 30 minutes and you get in cardio, mobility, and full-body training! Tuesday has more of a focuses on cardio and Thursday’s are my favorite, an active rest day. Sometimes they are more active then others, which I feel cheated of my rest!
You can do her workouts no matter your skill level. Go to her YouTube channel, and subscribe so you get updates and can find them easily. Once you are there, browse the various works outs. She has workouts that are low impact/ beginner, prenatal, postnatal, workouts you can do in a chair. You name it she has it! Once you do some of the workouts at your fitness level try her calendar. Just remember you can modify any of her workouts! The things you learned in the workouts you have done previously can be substituted in!
She is also very good at saying in her workouts how to modify and “be where you are today”. Now go out there and take some time for yourself!
Have you found a favorite workout program online?
