Amazon Kids+ Kid Content, Mom Approved

One Profile – All Devices

Do you have an Amazon account and you’ve been wondering what Amazon kids+ is? Maybe you purchased one of the many Amazon kids devices that come with a one-year trial and you have been meaning to set it up. Are you wondering what titles are available and if it is worth another monthly fee? If any of these apply, you should definitely keep reading! In the case that you’re an Amazon expert then please get in touch!

If you have been searching for a way you can control your kids’ content over multiple devices while having only one account to keep up with, then Amazon Kids + is unquestionably what you need.

After creating a profile for each of your kids, you have the ability to set an age range for each. This will provide your child with content that is tailored to the specific age group. It also gives you the option to block any content or websites you would rather your kids not have access to. These profiles then travel to any amazon device that you own and have your account logged into.

You have the Control

Amazon kids + uses a parent dashboard that can be viewed on your phone or computer. With this you have the ability to set the content your kids can watch, listen to and read. You are able to set specific times that the devices are available, a wake up and sleep time. These times can be different for weekdays and weekends. Another feature that I plan to use this summer, is setting an educational goal. This will make sure that is your kid is on a device they at least meet this goal before anything “fun” can be used. If you would like a step-by-step guide on how to use the dashboard then that is coming very soon, and will be linked right here!

Web Browsing

Parents have a lot of different viewpoints about their kids being able to access web searching. This may even vary by each child. The parent dashboard gives you options on if and how your child can access the web.

  1. You can block it completely so that your child cannot access web searching at all.
  2. You can hand select videos and websites that your child can have access to
  3. You can select an age group where your child will have access to predetermined sites based on their age. (You will have visibility to everything your child views)

Full visibility

One fun thing to see is what your child has asked Alexa. After my son’s alarm went off at 7:00 AM waking up the rest of the house, we asked him if he set up an alarm. He, of course, denied doing this. Me, being the clever parent that I am, went into the dashboard for his account and saw that he did in fact ask Alexa to set an alarm for 7:00AM (I also probably spent an hour trying to figure out how to do this).

Each child’s profile provides you with complete visibility. If you go to the parent dashboard on either the Amazon Kids+ page or your Amazon Kids + App, you’re able to see what was opened on any of the devices, by which child. There is also a time breakdown on how much time your child has spent on devices for the past 7 days, it even goes further to break it down by subject: Apps, books, videos, music and web.

What devices can your kids use?

The amazon kids+ profiles can be used across all of the Amazon devices including:

The best part about it, you only set up the controls one time!

*All of these devices are available in a kid specific model. You may be asking yourself, what is the perk of a kid specific model? In my opinion the best part is the warranties! I am living proof that they honor these warranties. You will get a replacement if your kids break their devices as long as the warranties are still valid. I have had to replace two kindle kids fire tablets, and the process is really easy. Just contact customer service, send your device in and you will receive a replacement device. They also come with a one-year subscription to amazon kids+. With three kids and multiple amazon devices we raked up a lot of free years of amazon kids+. The fire tablets also come with a really nice case to help protect it.

If you do not purchase the kids edition of the devices, you are still able to set up an amazon kids account. My kids received the normal echo dots for Christmas one year. I was not a fan of the kids model so we just got them the regular edition, then set it up with their amazon kids profiles. The only downside was we did not get the one-year free subscription this way.

But what can they do?

I have outlined below some of the things that you can do with an Amazon Kids+ subscription based on the device you may have:

  • Echo Dot
    • skills
    • audibles

Great information. Didn’t know there was so many options available to change settings such as what they can have access to depending on age.

My kids enjoy AmazonKids+ and I like the controls too. I think it’s especially good for younger kids learning about using devices and gaining educational time too. My daughter learned to read a bunch of new words from her tablet time.

My 5 year old has a fire table but he honestly doesn’t use it much. This post was so informative! I’m going to look into some more things he can do on his tablet. I should take advantage of all the kid-friendly options! 🙂
